Time to apply for Community Grants
Published on 28 January 2025
It’s almost that time of year again, when community groups in Glenelg Shire get their chance to get a helping hand for their much-needed projects.
Round two of Glenelg Shire Council’s 2024-25 Community Grants Program will open for applications on Monday, 3 February 2025.
The Community Grants program has been a popular way for many years for local groups and organisations to get funding for their projects.
If your not-for-profit community club or organisation has been looking for a funding opportunity to assist an activity or provide facilities to help better our community then this might be the opportunity for you.
The grant categories include recreation, public halls, community strengthening, community events and arts culture and heritage.
Up to $1,000 can be applied for without any co-contribution. For amounts over $1,000 and up to $5,000 a dollar-for-dollar contribution is required from the community organisation/group.
Glenelg Shire Mayor Karen Stephens encouraged community organisations and groups to take advantage of the program and apply for funding.
“We are incredibly proud of the Community Grants Program, which has helped hundreds of local not-for-profit groups, committees, clubs and organisations bring their ideas to life,” she said.
“I hope to see a diverse range of applications for this funding round, supporting community-led projects from all corners of the shire.”
Applications can be completed and submitted online. Potential applicants are reminded to refer to the Community Grants Guidelines to assess their eligibility to apply. All organisations and groups are strongly encouraged to discuss their projects with the relevant council officer prior to submitting their application.
Guidelines can be downloaded from the Community Grants section of Council’s website. Applications close on Sunday, 16 February 2025.
