The popular Libraries After Dark initiative will feature something a bit different on Thursday, 23 May.

Local artists David and Helen Croser will perform at the Portland Library as part of the free popular weekly program.

The couple’s set will feature David singing and playing country music and bush ballads while Helen will read her original poetry.

Originally from South Australia, the Crosers have lived in Portland for several years. Both are recording artists and David has four solo CDs to his credit plus one recorded by the Gum Flat Revival Band, formed in his home town of Minlaton, SA.

They won the group section in the Portland Country Music Festival in 1982 and 1987, as well as other talent quests in SA, including the group section of the inaugural Port Pirie Country Music Festival in 1983.

Helen started her poetry writing after attending poets’ breakfasts at festivals she and David attended and now has a large and diverse range of poetry.

She has recorded one poetry CD and written one poetry book.

The couple will have their CDs available for purchase on the evening.

We encourage you to bring along a picnic dinner to enjoy while listening to Helen and David perform. Please note all events at the library are alcohol free.
