Victoria’s Public Interest Disclosures Act 2012 provides protections for people who make disclosures about improper conduct in the public sector.
These procedures have been established to provide a system for reporting disclosures of improper conduct or detrimental action by the Glenelg Shire Council or its employees. They are a resource for anyone who wants to find out how to make a disclosure, receive the protections available under the Act, and how the discloser and their disclosure may be managed and handled by Council.
Council does not tolerate improper conduct by the organisation, its employees, officers, volunteers, contractors and Councillors nor the taking of reprisals against those who come forward to disclose such conduct. Council recognises the value of transparency and accountability in its administrative and management practices, and supports the making of disclosures that reveal improper conduct or the taking of detrimental action.
Disclosures about Councillors must be made to the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) or the Victorian Ombudsman.
Or if you wish to make a disclosure please contact;
Brett Jackson, Public Interest Disclosure Co-ordinator.
