The designer of the new sign, Thylacine, was selected as a successful contractor through a tender process. Several local businesses have been contracted in the construction stage, including lighting/electrical, foundation works, landscaping and a local stonemason was employed to position the stone.
The purpose of the new sign is to provide appropriate cultural recognition. Thylacine worked closely with traditional owner groups to develop a culturally inclusive design and representatives also negotiated with Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owner Aboriginal Corporation (GMTOAC) for confirmation and use of the correct indigenous wording for the sign.
As the entrance sign is adjacent to a VicRoads highway, their representative was involved in all stages of the project and a roads safety audit was completed, including the size and location of the sign.
