MEDIA RELEASE - Delay to Heywood Pool opening

29 November 2018

The summer outdoor swimming season will be delayed in Heywood, with the facility now expected to open one week later.

Due to unexpected maintenance issues, the Heywood Swimming Pool will not open on the 1 December as per outdoor pools across the shire. It is anticipated that the facility will open to public on Saturday 8 December.

Grampians Region YMCA Chief Executive Officer Brooke LeSueur said the delayed opening would ensure the pool would be in the best condition possible.

“We are disappointed that the community won’t be able to access the facility on the first day of summer as per the official schedule, however the week long delay will allow us to make certain the pool is in the best condition possible for users,” she said.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we assure Heywood residents that during the short period they will be able to utilise neighbouring pools in Portland, Casterton or Merino, which will be open to the public as per normal.

“We know how much the community values their local outdoor pool and we are pleased to confirm will be organising a number of fun, family friendly events in Heywood throughout the summer with our giant inflatables.

“We hope to welcome many community members through our outdoor pools across the Glenelg Shire this summer enjoying a reprieve from the warm weather.”
