Promoting your Event

Having a clearly defined purpose and event description (see the Event Planning Section of our Event Management Guidelines) will assist when developing your marketing plan and promotional content.

Your marketing plan may include:

A list of Printed material and details of distribution for example; 

  • email marketing
  • social media plan
  • event website
  • paid or sponsored advertising
  • media releases
  • competitions and promotions
  • a marketing timeline

Local Marketing/Promotional Opportunities

There are a number of free online promotional opportunities for you to list your event. 

The Glenelg  Shire Council is very proactive in promoting our region and local townships, and actively engage with Tourism operators to promote events.

When you apply to have your Event included on the Glenelg Shire Council Events Listing where appropriate your event may also be included on the Visit Glenelg App and listed with Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism and Visit Victoria.  To apply to have your event listed, complete the List an Event form.

Event Signboards and Banners

Promotional Signage for upcoming events can be displayed at various locations throughout the Glenelg Shire, as listed below.

Applications for Event Signboards & Banners must be approved by Council prior to any new Signage Boards being created. Any Boards and Banners are to be arranged at the Event Organisers Expense. Installation is subject to availability and not all requests can be accommodated. Signage and Banner installation is completed by Council staff and is free of charge.
