Event Signboards and Banners

Promotional Signage for upcoming events can be displayed at various locations throughout the Glenelg Shire, as listed below.

Applications for Event Signboards & Banners must be approved by Council prior to any new Signage Boards being created or any Banners being installed on the Portland Bentinck Street Fence.   

*Please note Portland Bentinck Street Banner is available for use by Not for Profit Organisations only. 

Applications should be received no less than two weeks prior to the requested installation date. 

Any Signage is to be arranged at the Event Organisers Expense and must be professionally made by a Signwriter.  Further details, regarding size and other signage criteria is noted on the relevant application form below. 

Signage Installation is subject to availability and not all requests can be accommodated.  Signboard installation is completed by Council staff and is free of charge. 

Please ensure you submit your application at a minimum of 6 weeks before to the installation date. 

Bentinck Street Banners will be installed by the Event Organiser in accordance with instructions, as noted in the form below.

Step 1.Complete the Relevant Application Form

     Once complete Email the form to events@glenelg.vic.gov.au

Step 2.What you should Include

  • Event organisers contact details
  • Event details, including date/time, location and a brief description AND

If applying to affix a sign to the Portland Bentinck Street Fence, you will also need to supply:

  • A photo of the banner (if available) 
  • A copy of Certificate of Currency for the Event Organisers Public Liability Cover with a minimum of $10,000,000.

The Process

Step 1.Review of your Event Signage Application 

After our Event Team receives your request, we will review your application form and assess signboard/banner space availability.  We may also contact you if we require further information.

Step 2.Confirmation of Booking Request

If your application meets all the signage requirements we will advise you in writing of the approval.  If you are applying to have signage created for display at a relevant Town centre.   You will need to engage a professionally signwriter to create the sign, to the specifications outlined on the application form. 

Bentinck Street Banners can only be displayed after approval is obtained by Council. 

Step 3.Signboard/Banner removal

All signboards will be removed within 48 hours of the end of the event and held at the nearest customer service centre for collection.
