Karreeta Peeneeyt Mara -Portland Child and Family Complex

The Karreeta Peeneeyt Mara Portland Child and Family Complex is a purpose-built integrated child and family services facility that provides high quality care and education to children from 8 weeks to 6 years and is owned and operated by Glenelg Shire Council.

Naming of the Building

The building was given a dual name in 2011.

Following consultations with the Traditional Owners of the Portland language area, the Victorian Aboriginal Corporation for Languages (VACL) and in consultation with the broader community, the traditional Dhauwurd Wurrung name "Karreeta Peeneeyt Mara" - meaning Grow Strong People, was chosen.

The Service is open Monday - Friday between 7.30 am and 6:00 pm.
