Fire Danger Period in Glenelg Shire

The Fire Danger Period is now in force in Glenelg Shire, from Monday 20 November 2023.
During the period Council will only issue permits to burn where approval has been granted from the Country Fire Authority.

Beats Cycle for Hope

“Beats Cycle for Hope” is a community fund raising program that aims to encourage people to take on challenges, live active lives and raise much needed funds for Glenelg Shire cancer support programs, services and families dealing with cancer.

The main event is an annual free, fully supervised, cycle challenge from Portland to the spectacular Cape Bridgewater beach.

The Rotary Club of Portland distributes 100% of the funds raised to the nominated cancer support programs.
