Eat, shop and play local to win this Spring

Community members are invited to eat, shop, and play local this Spring and win up to $500!
Glenelg Shire Council’s popular ‘Eat, Shop, Play Local’ competition will return from 18th September 2023 for a four week period to encourage residents to shop local.
By spending $50 or more at a local business anywhere in the Glenelg Shire, the competition offers entrants the chance to win a weekly $500 shopping voucher to the local business of their choosing within the Glenelg Shire.
Entrants simply need to keep their receipt and drop it with their name and contact details to the closest Customer Service Centre in Casterton, Heywood, or Portland. Winners will be announced each week via Council’s social media and website.
Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Scott Martin said the competition formed part of Council’s initiatives to recognise local traders and encourage local spending.
“Small businesses are the heart of our community – they foster our local economy, employ, and upskill our residents, drive growth and innovation and support not-for-profit projects. To give back to our small business sector, Council is encouraging residents to shop and support local this Spring and have the chance to win a shopping voucher at the same time,” he said.
“This is the fourth year the competition has been running and we are continually blown away by the uptake from businesses and community – in fact last year we had a record number of entries with thousands of local shoppers vying for a chance to win.
“This year we are offering a new initiative to show our love for local, with an additional weekly $50 voucher up for grabs. Entrants can post a picture of themselves supporting a local business, tagging Glenelg Shire Council, the business and including the hashtag #EatShopPlayLocalGlenelg, to secure a chance to win an additional $50 local shopping voucher.
“Weekly entries are unlimited so businesses can be sure to encourage entries from all customers, including your loyal repeat customers, who visit each week until 5pm Sunday 15 October 2023.”
The competition opens on Monday 18 September 2023 and four lucky shoppers will win $500 to spend locally in draws on 25th September, 2nd October, 9th October and 16th October 2023.
