Community groups, individuals and not-for profit organisations in the Glenelg Shire are invited to make their project a reality through Council’s Community Grants Program, which is now open.

Grant applications for round one of the 2025-2026 Community Grants Program have officially opened and applications will be accepted for a three week period, closing 5pm, Sunday, 10 August 2025.

If your not-for-profit community club or organisation has been looking for a funding opportunity to assist an activity or provide facilities to help better our community then this might be the opportunity for you.

The grant categories include:

  • Recreation;
  • Public halls;
  • Community strengthening;
  • Community events;
  • Arts culture and heritage.

Up to $1,000 can be applied for without any co-contribution. For amounts over $1,000 and up to $5,000 a dollar-for-dollar contribution is required from the community organisation/group.

Glenelg Shire Mayor Karen Stephens encouraged community organisations and groups to take advantage of the program and apply for funding.

“We are incredibly proud of our Community Grants Program, which has helped hundreds of local not-for-profit groups, committees, clubs and organisations bring their ideas to life,” she said.

“I hope to see a diverse range of applications for this funding round, supporting community-led projects from all corners of the shire.”

Applications can be completed and submitted online. Potential applicants are reminded to refer to the Community Grants Guidelines to assess their eligibility to apply.

All organisations and groups are strongly encouraged to discuss their projects with the relevant council officer prior to submitting their application.

Guidelines can be downloaded from the Community Grants section of Council’s website
