Roadside Weeds and Pest Animal Control

A picture of a road

The Glenelg Shire Council is responsible for the management of approximately 2,630km of local road.  Each year Council receives State Government funding for the control of noxious weeds and pest animals on these roadsides and reserves. The main considerations for allocating Council's weed control budget comprise:

  •   Protecting and enhancing sites of high conservation value.
  •   Meeting Council's legal obligations.
  •   Contributing to Council's fire hazard mitigation efforts.
  •   Supporting community led projects and responding to community priorities.
  •   Protecting adjoining sites of high conservation value.
  •   Minimising harbour for pest animals.
  •   Achieving cost efficiencies.
