The Portland Civic Hall officially opened 26 March 1974. Since then, the Hall has been centre of many iconic events.

The Civic Hall is a great location to hold your function with something to suit everyone. The venue is walking distance to town, and a bus stop located right out the front. The hall is situated next door to the Portland Library and Glenelg Shire Council Municipal Office.

The Hall is a versatile multipurpose building consisting of a large open area, as well as an adjoining supper room and kitchen. The Hall is a generous space which consists of a stage and change rooms, perfect for that end of year dance performance or school concert. The large floor area can accommodate up to 40 rectangle tables with 6 chairs per table for a cabaret style event, or 650 chairs facing the stage. The supper room provides a smaller space suitable for meetings and small community gatherings. This area can accommodate 10 tables with 6 chairs per table.

The stage consists of curtains, sound, and lighting capabilities plus dressing rooms backstage. Note: Only a qualified technician can use Councils sound and lighting board. When making your Hall booking you will be asked if technical support is required – if yes, we will book a 30-minute consultation with councils’ technician to discuss your event needs.

Bookings can be made up to 12 months in advance.   Please complete a Booking Request Form to check availability.

To book the Civic Hall please contact the Portland Customer Service Team (all bookings require Civic Hall requirements, terms and conditions, risk management plan, & public liability). If emailing Customer Service please attach your completed Civic Hall requirements.
