Maya Linnell is the best-selling author of six rural romance novels, all penned while a resident of Glenelg Shire, and she has been a regular at local libraries to talk about them.

And Narrawong-based Maya will do that again on Thursday, 6 June at free events at both the Casterton and Portland libraries to celebrate the publication of her latest novel, Wallaby Lane.

But it will also be a farewell for Maya, who is shortly to leave Glenelg Shire.

However, her latest novel is sure to leave her local fans happy.

Featuring Penwarra’s 100th Show, a one-eyed goat and a galah named Gary, Wallaby Lane is a complete delight from one of Australia’s favourite rural romance writers.

A keen baker, avid green thumb and former country journalist, Maya gathers inspiration from the small communities she has always lived in and loved, and is happiest when she’s writing about rural issues, spreading the word about good books and spending time with her family.
