Apply for a Berth

Prior to submitting a Local Port of Portland Booking Request, please review relevant information relating to our Marina Berths, Swing Moorings and Trawler Wharf.   

Step 1.Complete a Berth Booking Request

Upon receipt of your booking application, we will review your request and get back to you as soon as possible.

Step 2.What should you include? 

When making a booking request, depending on the length of your stay, you will need to provide the following information. 

Short Term Bookings  (Less than 3 months)

You will need to provide the following information, when making your booking: 

  • Vessel Name, Type, Colour, Length and Registration Number
  • Owner Details inc. Name, Phone and Email address
  • Insurance Details

If making a Trawler Wharf Booking you will also need to provide: 

  • Skipper Name, Phone and Email
  • Australian Business Number (ABN) and Public Liability Insurance details

 

Long Term Bookings (3 months or more)

Vessel Name, Type, Model/Year, Length, Beam, Draught

  • Vessel Registration Number or MSV Survey Number
  • Marine Vessel Licence Number
  • Public Liability and Comprehensive Insurance details
  • Owner Name, Phone and Email address
  • Trade Reference Name, Address, Email and Phone Number

You will also need to upload a copy of the following: 

  • Certificate of Vessel Registration or Vessel Survey
  • Photo of the Exterior of the Vessel
  • Public Liability Insurance 
  • Vessel Marine Licence

The Process

Step 1.Receipt of Booking Request

After our Port Officers receive your request,  you will receive a confirmation of receipt.  We may also contact you if we require further information. 

Step 2.Confirmation of Booking Request

Short Term Bookings (Less than 3 months)

The Port Officers will confirm your booking within 48 hours.  Your Confirmation of booking will include your assigned Berth Number, Security codes and other relevant details.  You will also be required to make payment as per the Fees & Charges Schedule(PDF, 189KB)

 

Long Term Marina or Trawler Wharf Bookings (3 months or more)

Your Booking request will be assessed, we will forward you our Terms and Conditions and Fee Schedule.   Once a signed agreement has been received, a long term Berthing Agreement will be issued.  This berthing agreement can be renewed on a annual basis.  You will also be required to make payment as per the Fees & Charges Schedule(PDF, 189KB)

 

Urgent Bookings

If your booking is urgent, i.e. due to weather conditions please contact our Port Officers on 03 5522 2140.

Step 3.Extending your Stay/Renewing your Booking

If you wish to extend your short term booking, please contact our Port Officers on 03 5522 2140.

Long Term Berthing renewals for Trawler Wharf and the Marina will be sent out annually.

When submitting a booking request, you will have to divulge some personal information. Glenelg Shire Council respects the privacy concerns of it's customers and treats all collection of data with due consideration. All personal and/or health information collected by Council is for municipal purposes, as specified in the Local Government Act 1989.

The personal information is used by Council solely for these purposes and/or directly related purposes. Council may disclose this information to other organisations if required by legislation. The applicant understands that the personal and/or health information provided is for the above purpose. They may apply to Council for access to and/or amendment of the data.
