Hooked on Portland Festival

Record crowds made Hooked on Portland 2020 bigger and better than ever over the 2020 January long weekend.

The two day festival celebrates our coastal centre as a fishing and tourism hotspot. Stretching along the Portland Foreshore the free festival, hosted in partnership with council and the Victorian Fisheries Authority featured entertainment and activities for all ages.

2020's fishing competition had record entries which made for a great weekend of fishing with a diverse collection of winners taking home over $2600 cash prizes.

While our new "Bonney Bar" introduced attendees to a beachfront Seafood and Wine experience, where they could relax harbourside in the middle of the festival activities and sample local abalone and squid dishes coupled with regional wines.

Once again the Masterclass Marquee proved popular, teaching keen cooks tips and tricks on how to catch, clean and cook the simplest of dishes at home with fish straight out of the local harbour.

And an estimated 2500 people gathered on the Bentinck Street lawns to watch Aussie rock icon Jon Stevens perform the INXS / Noiseworks collection. The atmosphere was electric, with people of all ages coming together as a community.

The event will return in 2022, ready to once again offer a full weekend of premier entertainment, activities and experiences for the whole family!
