Kanawinka Geopark

The Kanawinka Geopark is Australia's most extensive volcanic province, and has been recognised as one of the most significant and largest provinces in the world. It stretches across south western Victoria and south east South Australia, and is made up of five main precincts, craters and limestone, plateaus and falls, coast and caves, cones and flows and lakes and craters.

The Kanawinka Geopark takes you through a trail of volcanic cave systems, dormant volcanoes and extensive systems of craters, lakes and wetlands. The islands and coastal formation around Portland are the main volcanic features of the 'coast and caves' precinct. Key sites include Lady Julia Percy Island, Cape Nelson, Cape Bridgewater and Cape Sir William Grant, Mt Richmond National Park and the Budj Bin National Heritage Landscape at Tyrendarra.
