Are you planning a wedding in Portland, Casterton, Nelson or any of other localities in the Glenelg Shire? 

Depending on the location and event details, you may need to apply for a Permit to hold your wedding. 

Apply for an Event

If your wedding is taking place at Council Venue or on Public Land you will need to Apply for an Event.   Our Events staff will review your application and advise if a Permit is required.

PLEASE NOTE:  Special conditions may apply to your wedding location. These will be detailed in your Permit, once issued. 

The most common conditions include: 

  • Vehicles are not permitted to drive or park on beaches, or to park on grassed areas. 
  • Confetti and Rice are not permitted
  • Any structure or marque must be approved.

Wedding Locations

Within the Glenelg Shire, there is an abundance of beautiful locations, that may be suitable for a wedding ceremony. Some popular council managed outdoor locations include: 

  • Heywood Town Green 
  • ESS Lagoon Casterton
  • Whale Lookout Portland
  • Nuns Beach Portland
  • Cape Bridgewater Beach
  • Portland Botanical Gardens * No vehicles Permitted in Gardens
