MEDIA RELEASE - Heywood youth invited to Friday fun

12 December 2017

Heywood youth are invited to join in an afternoon of snacks, skateboards and selfies this Friday as part of an upcoming event.

The Heywood Youth Action Crew (YAC) are hosting a free Friday Fun! event on Friday 15 December at the Heywood Skate Park from 4:30pm – 6:30pm.

Glenelg Shire Council Youth Project Officer Angela Phillips said the event would offer young people in the town a chance to catch up and enjoy a relaxed afternoon with friends, as well as the opportunity to share ideas on possible events and projects for 2018.

“Friday Fun is an informal catch up for young people in Heywood to get together and enjoy an afternoon in the sunshine,” she said.

“Whether you want to draw, discuss or skate, there will be something that appeals to you. We’ve got some props to grab a silly selfie, tools to create your own skateboard design and of course some YAC members on hand to discuss what you would like to see organised for 2018.”

Ms Phillips said Friday Fun! would also reflect on the success of the YAC’s events during 2017.

“We’ve had some great youth events in Heywood so far this year, including the popular Street Art workshops at the skate park which have resulted in some original and eye-catching artwork for the town.

“I’m really excited to hear what ideas are proposed at Friday Fun! and what opportunities the New Year will bring for young people in Heywood.”

All interested youth between the ages of 12 – 25 are welcome to attend the free Friday Fun! event.
