MEDIA RELEASE - Glenelg residents encouraged to vote on community project ideas

17 August 2018

Thirty-five local Pick My Project submissions were selected to enter into the community voting stage, with projects submitted ranging from arts and recreation to sustainability.

Glenelg Shire residents now have the opportunity to view the short listed project ideas and vote for three standout projects that will transform the local community.

Pick My Project is a Victorian-first community grants initiative that has seen 2,500 project ideas submitted across the state and encourages residents to make their community an even better place to live.

The community can register and vote through the Pick My Project website, with the most popular projects then eligible to receive project funding through the State Government.

The Andrews Labor Governments $30 million funding for Pick My Project has been divided between metropolitan and nine regional partnership areas, with $20,000 to $200,000 available for each project idea.

This new initiative aims to encourage community support and benefit local communities, with $1 million in funding available in each metro and regional area.

Pick My Project voting closes on the 17 September 2018, with a final list of successful projects in all local government areas or regions announced in late September 2018.
