MEDIA RELEASE - Beat the boredom this spring

4 September 2018

With school holidays fast approaching, the Glenelg Shire has come to the rescue offering an array of exciting activities to keep kids’ boredom at bay.

The 2018 Spring School Holiday Program will provide free activities across the shire for school children aged up to year eight, taking place from 26 September - 5 October and.

Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Anita Rank said the program would once again alleviate the financial burden on families by providing free entertainment close to home.

“It’s often hard to keep the kids entertained over the break without spending hundreds of dollars. The School Holiday Program allows families to access local activities without the strain on the budget or the pressure of having to travel far from home,” she said.

“This spring we are proud to offer a varied program which boasts sports clinics, workshops, movie nights and pool parties throughout the fortnight. An exciting new addition to this program is the CFA truck, which will visit Casterton, Heywood and Portland libraries with games, story time, craft activities and more.

“Whatever your child’s age or interests, the Glenelg Shire Council has you covered these school holidays.”

The Spring School Holiday Program is currently being delivered to all shire schools and hard copies can be collected from council’s Customer Service Centres and libraries. Bookings open from 9am on 19 September and can be made by calling each activity provider.
