Things to See and Do in Casterton

  • Drop in to the Visitor Information Centre for free maps and guides, souvenirs, historical information and free BBQ facilities.
  • Drive to Mickle Lookout, for fantastic scenic views over Casterton.
  • Explore Casterton's main street shopping area - including specialty stores, antique/collectables shops, and eateries.
  • Have a picnic, do some fishing or watch the bird life at Ess Lagoon (regularly stocked with trout).
  • Check out the local and district art galleries.
  • Enjoy a picnic in one of our shady playgrounds or parks with free BBQs.
  • Wander the Old Casterton Cemetery.
  • Meander along the Kelpie Walking Trail to view five unique kelpie sculptures, historic parts of Casterton, parkland and reserves.
  • Visit the Wilkin Flora and Fauna Reserve and take a picnic, bird watch or admire the wildflowers in season from August to October.
  • Keep and eye out for the rare Red Tailed Black Cockatoo.
  • For the younger visitor why not visit our fantastic Skate Park on Murray Street (behind Foodworks).
  • Crowds flock to Casterton each June long weekend to witness Australia's iconic working dogs in action at the Casterton Kelpie Festival and Working Dog Auction.
