MEDIA RELEASE - Clarke Street toilets to remain open

28 February 2018

Casterton’s Clarke Street public toilets will continue to remain open for community use following endorsement at the February Ordinary Council Meeting.

A petition compiled by Casterton residents identified the need to keep the Clarke Street facilities open for a further period of time as user groups adjust to new Kelpie Centre amenities.

Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Anita Rank said council had alleviated the concerns of the community.
“Council received a petition in January to allow the Clarke Street toilets to remain open following concerns of the impact the closure may have on the central area of Casterton as the new facilities are located a further distance than the current amenities,” she said.

“In response to this community sentiment council has decided to keep the Clarke Street toilets open.”

Cr Rank thanked the petition organisers for providing comprehensive feedback to council.

“We appreciate the efforts of the Casterton community to provide a unified response on what public facilities should be offered in the township’s CBD,” she said.
